Project promoter Femern has received applications from four international consortia to build the track and overhead contact line facilities in the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel between Denmark and Germany. The contract, worth around €200 million, was tendered in March 2023. The contract includes the construction of a 25 km railway section with overhead line. Porr, TSO and Swietelsky, Aarsleff Rail and Rhomberg, as well as Acciona Construcción-Cobra have applied. The final bids are expected to be submitted in mid-2024 and the contract awarded in early 2025.
