The first phase of a 6.7 km Light Rail Transit (LRT) line extension from Pyynikintori to Lentävänniemi in Tampere opened on 7th August 2023. The extension has three stops. Construction work on the first section began in November 2020, followed by the start of work on the next Santalahti – Lentävänniemi section in March 2022. The second section is scheduled to open on 7th January 2025. The total cost of building the entire extension, including nine stops, is estimated at €99.5 million.
