Expansion of the Belgrade – Nis HSR route from 2025

The expansion of the 230 km high-speed rail line (HSR line) between Belgrade and Nis, which will enable a speed of 200 km/h, is scheduled to start in 2025. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028. In March 2023, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the European Union provided Serbia with €2.2 billion in financing to support the upgrading of the line.
