The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Commission have provided a €43 million financial package for the modernisation of two key railway lines in Moldova. The EU provided €20 million and the EBRD provided €23 million. The project will upgrade the railway infrastructure first on the Valcinet – Balti – Ungheni section, and in the second phase on the Chisinau – Cainari section.
