EC approves more than €145 million for Elk – Gizycko line

On 6th January 2023, the European Commission (EC) approved an investment of more than €145 million from the Cohesion Fund for the modernisation and electrification of a railway section between Elk and Gizycko in Poland. Along the 49 km railway line, the project will improve the physical conditions of the tracks and ensure electrification. The reconstruction of the drainage system will ensure connections for the power supply of the entire Elk – Korsze section. Overhead lines and supply lines will be installed. As part of the work, the material under the tracks will also be replaced and reinforced to allow the passage of heavy trains.
