DOTr requests €2.7 billion for 2024 railway projects

The Philippines Department of Transportation (DOTr) has requested funding of about €2.7 billion (PHP 164 billion) for the construction and maintenance of seven regional passenger rail transport (RPT) lines in 2024. €1.2 billion is allocated to the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) suburban rail network, which is currently under construction, and €167 million is for the maintenance and rehabilitation of Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3). The funding also includes contributions for the extension of Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 towards Cavite, for preliminary works on Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 4, and the South Long Haul project of the Philippines state railway PNR.
