On 22nd April 2024, German state railway DB and the German Aerospace Center DLR signed a cooperation agreement in the field of railway technology. DLR is contributing its knowledge and expertise in the areas of data analysis, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, cybersecurity, and digital twins to the cooperation, while DB is contributing data, operational expertise, and technical competence. The focus is on topics such as the simulation of automated train operations, as well as real-time transport information systems and intelligent transport management systems.
