CTA selects three bidders for Metro extension

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has selected three bidders to bid on the design-build contract for the Red Line Extension project. On the CTA shortlist are Kiewit Infrastructure; a joint venture (JV) of FH Paschen, Ragnar Benson, Milhouse and BOWA; and Walsh Vinci Transit Community Partners. The Red metro line will be extended by 9 km and four new stations, as well as a stabling and maintenance facility. The contract is expected to be awarded in late 2023, with major work starting in 2025. The total cost of the project is €3.3 billion (US$ 3.6 billion).
