CPK states advantages of central airport project after election results

Central Communication Port (CPK) has issued a statement on the benefits of the airport project and the expansion of railway infrastructure after fears were raised about the future of the project following the outcome of state elections in early October 2023. The CPK project includes the construction of a new airport, 12 new high-speed rail (HSR) lines totalling 2,000 km, and the upgrading of 3,700 km of railway lines. A report by management consultants Ernst & Young estimated that rail freight transport revenues from the project alone would generate nearly €44.4 billion (PLN 200 billion) up to 2060. In early October 2023, the European Union had confirmed further funding for the Warsaw – Lodz HSR line worth around €64 million. The opening of the first phase of the CPK airport is planned for 2028.
