CPK selects routing for Poznan branch of HSR network

CPK, the development company for Poland's new transport hub of the same name, has selected its preferred routing for the Poznan branch section under the proposed Y-shaped high-speed rail (HSR) network from Warsaw via Lódz and Sieradz to Wroclaw and Poznan. The chosen variant for this Sieradz – Poznan line section will comprise 155 km of HSR line, plus connecting lines which would take the total length of new alignment to 220 km. It is to be designed for 350 km/h operation, although services will initially run at up to 250 km/h. The railway element of the overall CPK programme envisions the construction of 2,000 km of new lines across Poland, with the aim of putting most large cities within two and a half hours of both Warsaw and the planned central airport.
