Council of Ministers approves three contracts for Zaragoza – Teruel – Sagunt line

The Spanish Council of Ministers has approved the tendering of three contracts for a total of €76 million for the Zaragoza – Teruel – Sagunt line. This will allow Mitma, the Spanish Ministry of Transport, to tender the adaptation of 23 flyovers and 19 tunnels on the line, as well as the construction of catenary, masts, and other electrification equipment via rail infrastructure operator Adif. One contract, worth €23.1 million, involves adapting the dimensions of 23 overpasses on the 177.5 km line between Teruel and Zaragoza. Two contracts worth €52.8 million (€32.18 million for the Teruel – Sagunto section and €20.58 million for the Zaragoza – Teruel section) concern the adaptation of 19 tunnels (4.4 km) for the installation of a rigid overhead line. The measures complement the recently approved tender for the adaptation of 22 overpasses of the Teruel – Sagunt section for €22 million. The Zaragoza – Teruel – Sagunt line, a strategic connection between the Mediterranean and Atlantic corridors, will be modernised at a total cost of €455 million.
