Council of Ministers approves tender for maintenance of overhead line network

On 13th February 2024, the Spanish Council of Ministers authorised the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (Mitma) to put out to tender a contract for the maintenance of electrical installations on the conventional rail network via infrastructure operator Adif. The contract, worth €328.4 million, will run for 36 months and can be extended by up to 24 months. The tender covers the maintenance of over 9,200 km of overhead line and 341 electrical substations. The measures include preventive and corrective maintenance to guarantee the operability and availability of the network and to rectify faults and equipment defects. Rapid intervention during inspections and the supply of materials for maintenance are also planned. Improvements to the electrical systems are intended to increase performance. Adif uses its own special equipment and calls in specialised companies when necessary.
