Cooperation with ERA extended until end of 2024

Switzerland has extended its cooperation with the European Union's (EU) European Railway Agency (ERA) until 31st December 2024. This decision will continue to enable joint railway vehicle authorisations and safety certificates for cross-border passenger and freight trains. ERA has been responsible for the joint authorisation of cross-border rail vehicles and locomotives since 2019, which reduces the administrative burden for Swiss companies. In addition to the extension of ERA cooperation, six EU legal acts were included in the Swiss-EU land transport agreement in order to confirm the equivalence of the law in the respective areas.
