Convensa/FCC JV win contract for Valladolid bypass and terminal

A joint venture (JV) of Contratas y Ventas (Convensa) and FCC Industrial e Infraestructuras Energéticas has been awarded a contract for track construction and electrification work on the 17.5 km Valladolid eastern bypass. The contract awarded by Spanish rail infrastructure manager Adif is worth around €15 million and will run for 18 months. The plan is to build a double-track broad-gauge line as a ballasted track between the start of the eastern bypass and the tracks previously built for the access line to the Renault España plant, with a branch to connect to the existing Madrid – Hendaye line with the Valladolid-Campo Grande station in the El Pinar de Antequera area. The electrification includes a 3 kV DC overhead line for both tracks along the entire length of the line and at the new rail freight terminal with seven tracks of more than 750 m of useful length and two additional tracks.
