At the end of February 2023, construction officially started on the northern section of metro line 3 in Seville. The mayor of Seville, Antonio Muñoz, expressed the hope that construction work would be realised without interruptions, and appealed to all the authorities involved to shorten time frames to build more than one section of line 3 at the same time. Muñoz said the city would cooperate to accelerate the construction of the southern section to Bellavista and line 2 to east Seville.
