The CSU and Freie Wähler parties have published their coalition agreement, which includes a plan for the full electrification of railway lines in Bavaria as well as the continuation of pilot projects for hydrogen-fuelled trains. In addition, a planning campaign for selected rail infrastructure, such as disabled-accessible stations, will be launched to bring federal funding to Bavaria. By 2028, 100 more disabled-accessible stations are to be created on the Bavarian rail network. Additional targets include the expansion of the railway nodes in the urban areas of Munich and Nuremberg as well as the optimisation of the accessibility of Munich's Airport through a 20-minute suburban rail service. The agreement also includes the demand for a high-speed rail (HSR) service to Munich Airport. The parties also plan to integrate 400 zero-emission buses per year into regional public transport.
