Chinese and Indonesian governments to finance additional costs of Jakarta – Bandung HSR line

The governments of Indonesia and China have agreed to increase the budget for the construction of the Jakarta – Bandung high-speed rail (HSR) line by €1.13 billion (US$1.2 billion). The costs for the construction of the HSR line have risen to €8.1 billion. For this reason, in mid-February 2023 the duration of the concession for the KCIC consortium was increased from 50 to 80 years. The line is scheduled to open in June 2023 and will shorten the travel time between Jakarta and Bandung from 3 hours to 40 minutes.
