In 2023, the signalling division of the manufacturer CAF awarded contracts to equip more than 450 vehicles with the European train control system ERTMS. In total, CAF has equipped over 1,300 vehicles with ERTMS and automated train operation (ATO), both new and retrofitted vehicles. CAF expects the positive trend to continue in 2024, with challenges such as the commissioning and certification of the ERTMS project with German state railway DB in Germany and the approval for the operation of the ATO in Auckland (New Zealand).
