Budimex to modernise Tychy – Goczalkowice E65 line section

Polish infrastructure manager PKP PLK and construction company Budimex have signed a contract worth around €215.4 million (PLN 960 million) for the modernisation of the Tychy – Goczalkowice section of the E65 main line. The works, which are due to be completed by the end of 2027, include the reconstruction of 48 km of track and 56 km of traction network to increase speeds to 160 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains. In addition, 17 engineering structures and seven rail and road crossings will be rebuilt. The modernisation also concerns the platforms at the five stations and stops Tychy Zwaków, Kobierz, Piasek, Pszczyna and Gopalkowice, which will be reconstructed, modernised, and made accessible for people with reduced mobility. The whole project is co-financed by the European Union through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) 2014-2020 funding programme. Under CEF 2021-2027, PKP PLK received co-financing of €937 million for the modernisation of the E30 and E65 railway lines.
