BMDV to install InfraGo sector advisory board in H1/2024

The German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) is planning to set up the sector advisory board in the first half of 2024 (H1/2024) as the successor to the existing network and station advisory boards as part of the new infrastructure company InfraGo. The committee, which is designed as a steering instrument for InfraGo, will therefore not yet be available for the establishment of InfraGo on 1st January 2024. The members of the new advisory board will be appointed by the BMDV and will have an office at the BMDV. The plan is to have 20 to 25 members from rail transport operating companies, regional passenger rail transport authorities, rail transport associations and the shipping industry as well as municipal umbrella organisations. However, passenger associations criticise the fact that they are not being taken into account. The advisory board is also to discuss the Infraplan, which is to be drawn up in 2024. This plan is intended to bundle the railway policy objectives and concepts and link them to the funding requirements. However, it remains unclear to what extent new impetus can be expected in addition to the bundling of existing strategies.
