The Norwegian infrastructure operator Bane Nor and its subsidiary Spordrift completed their merger on 1st December 2023. The merger enables better control over the condition of the infrastructure and strengthens the capacity to maintain and renew the railway network in Norway. The decision to merge was taken by the Norwegian government on 19th December 2022. On 13th March 2023, Spordrift was formally transferred to Bane Nor and organised as a subsidiary. Since 1st December 2023, all employees of Spordrift and Bane Nor have been working in the newly established Operations and Maintenance department.
