The French government has issued construction approval for a 54 km high-speed rail (HSR) line section between Montpellier and Béziers on the planned Montpellier – Perpignan HSR line. The line will be part of the HSR line network between Paris, Barcelona, and Marseille. Financing for the project was agreed on in January 2022. Construction of the section is scheduled to be completed in 2034, while the entire Montpellier – Perpignan line is scheduled for completion in 2040.
