Antequera HSR station starts operation

The new Antequera station has gone into service on the Antequera – Granada high-speed rail (HSR) line. The Spanish Ministry of Transport (Mitma), through HSR infrastructure manager Adif AV, invested €16.7 million in the 1,400 m² building with four tracks in standard gauge and two tracks in Iberian broad gauge. This will bring the HSR line closer to the city centre and increase mobility between Antequera and the HSR corridors through Andalusia and the rail network as a whole. Soon, Iberian-gauge trains will also use the station. In Antequera, 22 long-distance passenger trains are planned per day by the Spanish state railway Renfe, including 14 trains of the Avant brand, six AVE high-speed trains (HST) on the Granada – Madrid line and two AVE HSTs on the Granada – Barcelona line. For short and medium-distance passenger services, the journey time will be 26 minutes to Malaga, less than an hour to Granada and Cordoba, and two hours to Seville.
