Amtrak and Texas Central Partners to develop Dallas – Houston HSR project

Amtrak is working with Texas Central Partners to further develop a high-speed rail (HSR) project between Dallas and Houston, based on Japanese technology. Since 2016, the organisations have collaborated on various initiatives and are currently evaluating a partnership to further study and potentially advance the project. They have applied for federal support through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure Safety & Improvements Grant programme, the Corridor Identification & Development programme, and the Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Grant programme. The 390 km line is expected to have a travel time of less than 90 minutes.
