Adif AV, the infrastructure manager of the Spanish high-speed rail (HSR) network, has procured a new 300 km/h high-speed measurement train for more than €21 million. The order placed by Adif AV with manufacturer CAF also includes maintenance of the train for four years and the supply of spare parts. The vehicle for acoustic measurement of track and catenary for use on standard-gauge HSR lines has equipment for dynamic structure-borne sound measurements on track and catenary, for analysing the current absorption capacity of the catenary and for testing the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) control system, as well as an odometer system. Adif AV already uses six measuring trains for acoustic tests and ordered four more units worth €121 million, three of them for broad-gauge conventional lines and one in variable gauge for HSR lines.
