Adif AV invites bids to double-track Palencia – León HSR line

Adif AV, the infrastructure manager for the Spanish high-speed rail (HSR) network, has issued a call for bids to double-track a section of the Palencia – León HSR line worth a total of €34.4 million. Adif AV is awarding two contracts, one for the construction of the second track (ballast, sleepers, and rails) and the overhead line for €27.8 million, the other for the construction of three autotransformer intermediate stations and adaptation and extension of three substations for €6.6 million. The section links the future Pajares HSR line with the Spanish HSR network and doubles the length of the double-track section of the 114.8 km HSR line to 75% or 85 km from Las Barreras, about 30 km from Palencia, to near León.
