Adif AV, the infrastructure manager of the Spanish high-speed rail (HSR) network, has tendered the 17th and final section of the Murcia – Almeria HSR line for almost €409 million, after funds were released. The 3.2 km section of the line in Lorca includes a 2.9 km tunnel and the new Sutullena station. The double-track standard-gauge line will operate in mixed traffic and be double-tracked in the area of the conventional Murcia Mercancías – Águilas line. The section joins the Totana – Lorca section under construction, after the Lorca-San Diego station, and ends at the Lorca – Pulpí intersection, also under construction, after the intersection with the RM-11 road.
