The Chinese construction company China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) has started the construction of a 575 km mining railway project connecting the Algerian province of Bechar with the Gara Jabilet iron ore region in the province of Tindouf. The construction work will be realised in cooperation with the Algerian state construction company Cosider TP. As the line runs through a desert area, CRCC will use specialised construction techniques and scientific research to control sand movements and the formation of deposits that could hinder train operations.
