The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has granted Namibia a €185.3 million (US$196.43 million) loan for the second phase of the Transport Infrastructure Improvement Project (TIIP). The loan, approved on 31st October 2023, covers 51.8% of the total cost of the project, with the Namibian government providing the remaining 48.2%. The project includes the construction of 207 km of new tracks next to the existing line from Kranzberg to Otjiwarongo, and the upgrading of the signalling system on the Walvis Bay – Tsumeb line.
