Adif AV awards track construction planning contract on Murcia – Almería HSR line

Adif AV, the infrastructure manager for the Spanish high-speed rail (HSR) network, has awarded a contract to the engineering services company Ayesa Ingeniería y Arquitectura for planning a track construction project on the 60 km Nonduermas – Lorca San Diego section of the Murcia – Almería HSR line. The contract, worth €449,400, will prepare the construction tender for the section. The plan is to build a temporary track in Iberian broad gauge and re-gaugeable sleepers between Nonduermas and the assembly base with material storage in Librilla. After installation of the standard-gauge track between Librilla and Lorca San Diego, the provisional line will also be converted to standard gauge. The project also includes the conversion of the standard-gauge track at the head of the Chinchilla/Almería side of the Murcia Cargas logistics complex to mixed gauge. Track construction on the section is scheduled for completion in 2024. Adif AV is investing around €3.5 billion in the construction of the Murcia – Almería HSR line.
