Webuild JV to build HSR line in Neom

A joint venture (JV) between the Italian construction company Webuild and Shibh Al Jazira Contracting (SAJCO) has been awarded a contract for the design and construction of the 57 km high-speed rail (HSR) line in Neom, a 26,500 km² region in north-western Saudi Arabia. The line with a top speed of 230 km/h will be suitable for both passenger and freight transport. The contract, worth around €1.4 billion, includes the design and construction of a major part of the line between Oxagon, the region's industrial centre, and The Line, a planned car-free city. The construction work includes two HSR tracks each for passenger and freight transport, as well as viaducts, road bridges, and road and rail tunnels. Webuild holds a 70% majority stake in the JV through its local branch and the Salini Saudi Arabia entity, and is also managing the execution of the works. SAJCO holds 30% of the JV.
