Systra Prime L22 to design metro line 22 in São Paulo

Metro-SP, the operator of the metro network in São Paulo, has awarded the Systra Prime L22 consortium a contract for the delivery of preliminary engineering, architectural and geological studies for the future metro line 22. The consortium comprises Systra and another engineering company Prime. Once completed, the line will connect the municipality of Cotia to Sumaré station on line 2 in the city of São Paulo. Under the contract, Systra Prime L22 will have until May 2026 to complete the works, following the signing of the service order for the project, which is scheduled to take place by the end of June 2023. The consortium had been selected as the winner of the tender in February 2023. The design works will serve as a basis to assess the option of building an underground line or mixed underground and elevated line. The line is expected to be 29 km long with 19 stations and serve 649,000 passengers per day. Initially, 52 metros are expected to be required for the line.
