First shipment of rails delivered for Fico line

The first shipment of rails for the Midwest Integration Railway (Fico) in Brazil has been delivered. The rails will be used for the construction of the Fico line section between Mara Rosa in the federal state of Goiás and Água Boa in Mato Grosso. In all, 8,000 t of rails arrived at the Port of Itaqui in Maranhão. The 383 km line section will connect to the North-South Railway (FNS) in Goiás and is being built by Vale as an investment obligation for the early extension of the Vitória-Minas Railway concession contract. Of the 8,000 t of rails that arrived at the Port of Itaqui, 1,800 are to be delivered to Mara Rosa in February 2023.
