BTC to build Green LRT line in Calgary

The Bow Transit Connectors (BTC) consortium has been awarded a contract to build the new Green Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line in Calgary. The largest public contract in the city's history, worth around €3.7 billion (CA$5.5 billion), will run for 16 months. The US subsidiary Flatiron of the Spanish construction group ACS, Barnard Constructors, WSP Canada and EllisDon are involved in BTC. Flatiron accounts for 40% of the contract, corresponding to work worth around €1.5 billion. The 18 km LRT line with 13 stations is to run for 2 km in tunnel. Construction is scheduled to start in 2024. BTC won the final round of bidding against a consortium comprising Acciona, Aecom, Parsons and ACS subsidiary Dragados.
