Slovakian infrastructure operator ZSR has bought a two-car track monitoring and diagnostic train of the type Sever-1435 from Russian manufacturer Tvema. According to the Slovakian Ministry of Transport, this train enables a twice-yearly inspection of the entire network. The 50 m diesel-powered train is equipped with bogies supplied by Hungarian company Ganz Motor. The train has a maximum speed of 120 km/h, which is, however, limited to 70 km/h during inspection runs, and can measure 500 km of track per week. It was financed by a loan worth €14.4 million from Slovak Investment Holding (SIH), which in turn was supported by the European Union's Operational Programme Integrated Infrastructure (OPII). Previously, ZSR had rented an inspection vehicle from Hungarian state railway MÁV.
