Slovakian infrastructure operator ZSR has signed a contract worth €369 million with construction company Zdruzenie pod Dubinou to modernise the 14.5 km line between Poprad Tatry and Krompachy in the High Tatras in eastern Slovakia. The contract specifies that the project must be completed within three years. It includes the complete replacement of the tracks and other superstructures as well as the modernisation of the stations, with the exception of the work at Poprad Tatry station. The work will increase the maximum speed on the line from the current 110 km/h to 160 km/h. The line is a section of the 242 km Zilina – Kosice line. The project includes 3 km of realigned tracks near Lucivna and preparation for the conversion of the overhead line electrification from 3 kV DC to 25 kV AC. Zdruzenie pod Dubinou is a consortium of TSS Grade Bratislava and Doprastav Bratislava.
