Wenzhou – Fuzhou HSR line approved

The Chinese National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has approved the construction of a 302.2 km high-speed rail (HSR) line between Wenzhou and Fuzhou. The line, which will operate at speeds of 350 km/h, connects the provinces of Zhejiang (98.4 km) and Fujian (203.8 km) and includes stations such as Fuzhounan, Lianjiang, Ningde, Wenzhoudong and others. At a cost of €10.55 billion (CNY 89.7 billion), the line will double the capacity of the existing coastal HSR link from Shenzhen to Hangzhou and Shanghai. Construction will begin in September 2025 and take five years. The line was first included in Fujian's medium-term railway network plan in 2017.
