The Welsh Government has discussed its priorities for rail reform in a meeting between Ken Skates, Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Transport and North Wales, and the UK Rail Minister Lord Hendy on 16th August 2024. Priorities include the development of a locally driven business unit for Great British Railways in Wales, the implementation of a Welsh improvement scheme and a greater say in cross-border services. Both governments are working closely together to develop future improvements to rail infrastructure in Wales.
