The European Union (EU) is providing Warsaw with €476 million (PLN 2 billion) for the completion of metro line 2 as well as ongoing light rail transit (LRT) projects. Around €262 million from the European Fund for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021-2027 will go towards the completion of metro line 2, including the 3.4 km section from Bemowo to Karolin and seven six-car metros. Completion is planned for 2026. The remaining €214 million will support LRT projects worth €500 million, including the line to Wilanow and extensions from Spacerowa to Miasteczko Wilanow. Additional funds will be used to complete a line from Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 to Warsaw Zachodnia station and a connection between Pole Mokotowskie and Rakowiecka. The purchase of new light rail vehicles (LRV) and the construction of a depot in Annopol are also planned.
