Vossloh has inaugurated an automated production facility for engineered polymer sleepers (EPS) in Nowe Skalmierzyce, Poland. The plant will initially produce around 100,000 EPS per year, including soft support plates and special products for use on bridges. The EPS is produced from secondary raw materials using green electricity and is intended to be fully recyclable at the end of its 50-year service life. The sleepers are the result of more than ten years of development and combine the high weather resistance of concrete, wood and polymer sleepers to include low thermal expansion, high track stability and a stable track spacing.
