Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) has received an order from Plasser & Theurer to develop 14 TME 42-32-4 electric motors for new rail-bound snow removal vehicles for ÖBB-Infrastruktur. The first motors were delivered in March 2025, and the contract was awarded in July 2024. The vehicles are currently undergoing final assembly at Plasser & Theurer and will then be put into service for ongoing maintenance and winter operations by the infrastructure operator of Austrian state railway ÖBB. The engines drive snow blowers via hydraulic power packs and are intended for the Plasser MultiCrafter 15.4 E³ vehicle generation, which will be equipped with a snow clearance attachment developed for ÖBB-Infrastruktur. TSA specifies a continuous power output of 360 kW and a peak power output of up to 575 kW for the engine.
