According to unofficial reports, the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure has temporarily halted two railway projects: the new Toxote – N.Karvali line in the north-east, part of the Sea2Sea project with full funding and planned completion in around three years, and the Elefsina section on the re-gauged Ano Liosia – Megara section of the former Peloponnese Railway in West Attica. The reason for this is safety concerns due to the proximity to the Helleniq Petroleum Group's facilities. In the Ano Liosia – Megara project, which is to be completed by the end of 2026 with resilience fund money, the Elefsina section will be removed from the financing and the project will be divided into three parts. Further implementation is unclear, although the overall project is well advanced.
