Three infrastructure companies have submitted bids for package T-1 of the Mumbai – Ahmedabad high-speed rail (HSR) line project. The package comprises the final section of approximately 157 km in the federal state of Maharashtra of the approximately 508 km HSR line. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has opened the technical bids from a joint venture (JV) of DRA Infracon and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), another JV of KEC International and Rahee Infratech, and a single bid from Larsen & Toubro (L&T). Package T-1 comprises the complete planning, supply, construction, testing and start of operation of the track infrastructure between BKC station in Mumbai and Zaroli Village on the border with Gujarat. The tender for this work was issued in October 2024 with a contract period of 2,157 days. The project will use the Japanese J-Slab track system, which is suitable for trains travelling at speeds of over 300 km/h. The bids will now undergo a detailed technical evaluation before the financial bids of the qualified bidders are opened.
