The Spanish Ministry for Transport and Sustainable Mobility Mitma has announced the tender for projects for the five sections of the planned high-speed rail (HSR) line between Seville and Huelva. The 95 km standard gauge HSR line is to be realised with an investment volume of around €1.6 billion and at a maximum speed of 350 km/h, reducing the travel time between the cities from the current 1.5 hours to 25 minutes. In addition, the construction of a station in La Palma del Condado is planned. The tender is to be issued in the first quarter of 2025 (Q1/2025). In addition, Mitma is investing the modernisation of the conventional railway network in Huelva, including the Huelva – Zafra line, with a total budget of €240 million. The port of Huelva is planning to invest more than €280 million by 2028 to expand its intermodal capacity.
