Tended enters into partnership with Safelines for geofencing

Tended has expanded its presence in the Dutch railway market through a partnership with Safelines, with the aim of rolling out the geofencing technology more widely in infrastructure projects. Safelines is part of the ATR Group and has been providing safety solutions for track-side work for over 20 years. The collaboration is aimed at infrastructure operators and railway construction companies, many of which have traditionally relied on manual safety processes. Tended had already begun a partnership with Dual Inventive in 2024. The technology defines digital boundaries on construction sites, for example for safe working areas, access points or authorised paths. To this end, workers wear high-precision tracking devices on their personal protective equipment, whilst machines and equipment can also be fitted with such modules. If a digital boundary is crossed, the system sends a warning. Supervisory staff can track the movements of equipment in real time. According to the company, this reduces the need for radio communication and supports checks before a line is reopened. Another new feature is a solution using virtual site markers to replace physical signs. Tended estimates the potential time savings at up to one hour per shift.
