The high-speed rail (HSR) line between Yerköy and Kayseri, which is currently under construction, is expected to open in the first half of 2028 (H1/2028). The 142 km long line includes three stations in Sefaatli, Yenifakili, and Himmetdede, and connects to the Ankara – Sivas HSR line, which opened in April 2023. The new line, which enables maximum speeds of 250 km/h, will reduce the journey time from Ankara to Kayseri from seven hours to one hour and 45 minutes. Once operational, the line is expected to carry around 11 million passengers in long-distance passenger rail transport and 650,000 t of goods in rail freight transport annually.
