CPK, the project promoter for the planned Warsaw Central Airport, has registered six consortia for competitive dialogue regarding the construction of the first section of the Y high-speed rail (HSR) line between Warsaw, Lodz, Poznan and Wroclaw. The procedure concerns the 13 km section between Kotowice in the municipality of Brwinów and the airport hub as part of the Warsaw – Lodz link. CPK is now reviewing the applications and may admit all six bidders to the next stage of the procedure. Key selection criteria include experience with completed construction works, including in Poland, as well as Polish language skills among key personnel. The tender evaluation will take into account the price and an extended warranty period. The award of the contract and its conclusion are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027 (Q4/2027). The line is being designed for a design speed of 350 km/h and 25 kV 50 Hz AC. For the Warsaw – Lodz line, CPK is planning five further construction contracts as well as separate procedures for signalling and safety systems, telecommunications and catenary systems with power supply. The start of operation for the Warsaw – Lodz section is scheduled for 2032, with the further connections to Poznań and Wroclaw planned for 2035.
