Siemens Mobility, in cooperation with Paris-based public transport operator RATP, has completed the implementation of the Trainguard MT communication-based train control (CBTC) system on Paris's metro line 14. The six-year modernisation included the replacement of the existing system with GoA4 automation level with the latest generation CBTC Trainguard MT with GoA4 for fully automated driverless metro operation. At the same time, the line connecting Orly Airport to the city centre was extended by 14 km in a northerly and southerly direction, making it the longest metro line in Paris with a total length of 28 km. The line also connects directly to the future Grand Paris Express (GPE) metro network. In cooperation with Thales, Siemens Mobility will also equip the GPE lines 15, 16 and 17 with the CBTC system.
