Lithuanian infrastructure operator LTG Infra has awarded Siemens Mobility a contract to adapt the traffic management system on the electrified Siauliai – Klaipeda line. The contract worth €10 million includes software and hardware upgrades for safe train management and level crossings. The Vilnius – Klaipeda electrification project is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 150,000 t per year and bring socio-economic benefits of €700 million. In addition, the share of electrified lines in Lithuania will increase from 8% to 28%.
