RTRDA and Nplus sign MoU for railway technology

The Thai Rail Technology Research and Development Agency (RTRDA) and Italian company Nplus have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on railway technology. The MoU envisages the introduction of the structural health monitoring technology developed by Nplus. The aim is to improve infrastructure inspection, condition analysis and maintenance, increase safety, and reduce the risk of accidents. Bringing the infrastructure up to international standards is supposed to create a more robust and reliable railway network. An initial pilot project, to be completed by the end of 2024, will see the installation of Nplus sensors to continuously monitor the health of bridges and viaducts. RTRDA and Nplus then plan to install sensors on other structures, including the border bridges connecting Thailand to Cambodia and Laos.
